Overnight Care
Nighttime can be a challenging time for a postpartum family. Parents are exhausted and everyone else has gone home. But babies still have needs during the night! The support of a doula can ease the transition to new parenthood by reducing the effects of sleep deprivation, encouraging healing post birth, and helping to establish healthy sleep habits. When caring for you and your baby during an overnight shift, I will provide newborn care throughout the night, bringing baby to you when/if you want. My overnight care can look very different for each family, so please do not hesitate to ask any questions you have about the suitability of night time care for your unique situation. If baby is sleeping well, I can complete any chores the family has indicated would be helpful (without disturbing sleeping family members) - light housework, preparing some healthy snacks, baby laundry, etc. I don't "sleep when baby sleeps", although I may close my eyes for a few moments if all the chores are done and baby is sleeping peacefully.
